For the better part of two decades, Santa Sophia has supported ISN’s Rotational Shelter Program, first as a Host Congregation and now as a Support Congregation. In the past as a host congregation, Santa Sophia welcomed up to 12 guests experiencing situational homelessness. (Situational homelessness is “the status of being forced to live without housing due to a life-altering event, such as job loss, domestic violence, medical emergency, or natural disaster.”)
Currently, Santa Sophia has committed to supporting ISN’s Rotational Shelter Program as a Support Congregation; this means when host congregations need dinner hosts, food donation/delivery, or overnight chaperones, they can reach out to a support congregation. Our work would then begin finding parishioners with the time and calling to support ‘the dear neighbors without distinction’ CSJ Community.
