Vision
A group of evangelized young disciples, eager for catechesis, mission, evangelizing and growing in virtue.We will provide opportunities for Christian fellowship within a safe environment where youth are seen, known, loved, and feel that they belong. Youth will be guided by virtuous Christian men and women.
How do I join a Youth Group?
All you have to do is come to youth group and sign-in. Grade levels for youth group are grades 9 through 12, ages 13 to 18. We will meet on a regular basis on Tuesdays from 6:30pm to 8:00pm at the CMO building.
What if I'm a Young Adult (18+)?
If you are a young adult (that is, you are 18+ and out of high school) you are invited to join our young adult group. Young adults will not be allowed to participate in youth group unless they meet the following requirements:
- They have spoken with the youth minister and have requested to volunteer their time, talent, and treasure to youth ministry
- Their request to volunteer has been approved by the youth minister
- They have completed the Catholic Mutual Group safe environment training and background check
We reserve the right to direct requests to volunteer with youth group to other ministries if we discern that youth ministry is not a good fit for you. -
Plan for October!
Our high school youth group sacred, service, and social activities are as follows:
October 12 (Saturday), Service - Group prayer for a Respect for Life at Planned Parenthood in El Cajon. Teens should plan to meet in front of the clinic at 10:00am and be picked up at 11:00am. We are a peaceful and prayerful witness for life. We will be praying with other parishioners from Santa Sophia. Warning that those who pray at the clinic as we will be doing sometimes receive angry comments from people driving by. Address: 1685 E Main Street, El Cajon, CA 92021. Drop teens off or park at the McDonalds. Parents are welcome to join!
October 13 (Sunday), Sacred - Join in the parish rosary after the 11:00am Mass. Plan to gather at the outside Mary statue at the front of the church around 12:15pm
October 26 (Saturday), Social - Bonfire out on the school parking lot from 6:30pm to 8:00pm. Bring a comfy camp chair. We'll have supplies for s'mores - feel free to bring your own, too. There will be pizza. We'll use a story deck of cards to prompt some bonfire story-telling. If you're good at guitar, bring it! -
